How do I create my widget?

First, start by signing up on the main page with a valid email address. You will then be automatically sent a confirmation email. Keep this email somewhere safe since it has your username and password, which you might forget! When you see this email, click the line that says "Activate my account". You will then be taken to your own widget "homepage". On the bottom left you'll see a link to your very own widget page, which you can access anytime.

Why didn't I get a confirmation email?

Some SPAM filters are pretty hardcore. They may block our confirmation email. Be sure to check any SPAM/Junk folders your email account may use.

How do I share the widget with friends?

One easy thing to do is just email friend the link to your widget page here on the site, which is
http://widget.billytalent.com/widget/YOURUSERNAME (the last part is whatever you picked as your username).

Can I embed this widget on my MySpace /blog/website?

You betcha! When you are logged in and on your widget "homepage", you have the option to grab the "embed code" that will allow you to place a simplified version of the widget on your MySpace page, or any blog or webpage. If you don't have a MySpace page or blog/website, no biggie - You can always access your widget right here!

Why doesn't the embedded widget on my MySpace page look like the one on the main website?

MySpace pages don't really like embedded objects that were built with really fancy Flash stuff (like this widget!). So to be safe, some of the more 'advanced' elements of the widget are only viewable on your own widget page (widget.billytalent.com/widget/YOURUSERNAME). The MySpace (or other blog/site) embedded version still works as a media player, and a great way to spread the word to your friends and accumulate points!

Can I share this widget via Facebook?

You sure can, pally. When logged-in to your widget "homepage", on the right is the option to log-in to Facebook via Facebook Connect. This will bring in a mini-toolbar that will have all your Facebook friends right here on the widget site! You can pick specific friends from the list, or all of them, and then share away!

What's all this business about points?

Unlike other band widgets, we wanted to reward Billy Talent fans who share the love! If you get friends to check out your widget and click the "Fan My Band" button, you get a point. If they use the "Get yours" link from your widget to build their own, you get TEN points! Cool, huh?

If you get enough points (don't worry, its easy), you will go up to a higher "levels". When this happens, the widget design changes and you'll be able to access any special content available to the widget top level only. We'll update the widget with new content whenever it's available.

The audio/video/photos in the widget's media library aren't working!

This could be due to a slow internet connection. The audio and video can sometimes "buffer" and not stream smoothly if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. Just give it some time an the content will load, and should work smoothly after that.

Why is some content "locked"?

You need to get more points to go up in "levels" to unlock these clips! One of these is a special thank-you message that will only work on your widget when you are logged-in, so go get some points!
